SAM6i MODULES

COMMUNICATION
The Communication module incorporates three pieces: Correspondence, Reference Notes, and Memo. Each communication mode can be assigned to different owner types, student, teacher, faculty, parent, or contact. The Correspondence Log is a register for all communications relating to the owner. A student’s log could consist of documents of teacher conferences, principal meetings, letters sent home regarding progress, attendance, discipline, etc., parental contact from a school official, school contact from a parent. A teacher’s log could consist of teacher call-ins, administrative conferences, parent communication, etc. The log is designed to record communication to, from and in reference to an owner type. Reference Notes are comments or explanations added an owner type. Notes can be categorized as to be viewed by all, highly sensitive, or to be viewed by the creator only. This function allows counselors and administrators to keep information in an effectively secured electronic format for easy reference and search options. The Memo module is for internal memorandums between employees within the system.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT
SAM6i
Graduation Requirement module allows a school or district to have separate requirements for every entering freshman class and for every type of diploma. These requirements are basic requirements that need to be met for gradation. The module allows for general subject area credits, specific course requirements, and qualifying statewide assessments scores. These requirements can be applied to students even when they fail a school year and become a member of a different graduating class. SAM6i assist school personnel in staying abreast of student progress toward the ever-changing course and testing requirements.

The Individual Plan is an outline of courses, tests, and other requirements set to the individual student. Met requirements are indicated as they are fulfilled. This allows one to view successfully completed requirements and shows a road map of unmet requirements. Specifics additional graduation requirements deemed necessary can be added to an individual’s plan. For example college entrance test scores, additional foreign languages, advanced electives, certain G.P.A and/or Q.P.A, advanced academic courses, etc. This allows students and parents to become more involved in the child’s education. Parents have a bird’s eye view of completed and uncompleted requirements. Course requests for the next school year can be processed from the individual plan. This tool also allows school counselors to easily manage their assigned student load. They can compare the child’s school progress with the individual plan to evaluate if they are on track or if the plan needs to be revised. For school administrators, this tool can be used to track trends, assisting in projecting courses to be taught, hiring needs, space requirements, and textbook orders.

PARENT ONLINE
The Parent Online module allows parents to view student information from remote locations. The school or district declares which modules can be accessed and viewed. Some schools may want parents to see a student’s schedule, attendance, discipline, grades, standardized testing scores, permissions, and contacts. While another district may want parental access streamlined to attendance and grades only. Parents can also have permissions to access and make revisions to their children(s) Individual Plan. This can assist in finalizing planned courses to actual course requests. Parents have accurate and current information, eliminating the need for sending information by the student. This can become a valuable communication tool. Through a standard report, schools can audit the number of times a parent has logged on to Sam6i . Parental involvement is one of the major goals of the No Child Left Behind Act.

LESSON PLAN
The Lesson Plan module is very simple, allowing teachers to create their own or they can pull from a bank. Each lesson plan is associated with competencies with categorized context strands. Objectives then define the competences and objectives further define the benchmarks. Objectives can be added on the district or school level. Each lesson plan has duration, procedures, tasks, accommodations, enrichments, assessment/evaluation methods, resources/materials, homework assignment and learning strategies. Guest speakers and integration activities can also be tracked. The Lesson Plan bank can be searched by many different criteria including title, competencies, objectives, etc. This module is flexible enough to accommodate preschool through high school.

NEWS
The News module allows pertinent news information to be displayed by State, District, and School. Add, edit, and update rights are issued through the security module. The news has a beginning and ending date, therefore trimming daily input and maintenance. Events can be posted for any length of time.

REPORT DESIGNER
SAM6i
has ad hoc report capability through a standardized reporting engine with graphing abilities. Several predefined reports are available. A countless assortment of user-defined reports can be easily created. A sophisticated and modern appearance can be achieved by using the assortment of diagrams and graphics supplied with SAM6i. SAM6i condenses the time-consuming methods of generating the required state, national, and accreditation reports, especially for No Child Left Behind.

SECURITY
The Security Module is a key piece in SAM6i. Security rights are established in group formats based on pages within each module. View only, add, update, delete, view critical, and all access are the security levels. Since the security was built on bitwise principal, these security levels are individual not a stepping stone technique. For example, to have delete rights does not mean you have to have add rights, rights are independent from one another. Once groups are created, individual users are created. Users are then assigned to groups, allowing for a more effective security plan when dealing with a mass amount of user will many different security levels. Users associated with more than one school can be issued different security rights at the different schools.
